Cars cake

Carrot cake I made for my boys 2nd "Cars" party. Cream cheese icing tastes great but not the easiest to work with.

Farm Party / Partytjie Plaas Tema

Dis partytjie tyd.

Sommer gesmelte sjokolade in plaas diere gemaak.

Marie - 2 years

Well this is the party we had! The theme was Marie from Disney's Aristocats,

we made a heart shaped cake with a Marie rice paper picture on it. I made buckets with lots of sweets and little toys in and it had Marie stickers inside as well. The kids really enjoyed that too! The buckets had pink ribbon on and had a Marie sticker on the lid, unfortunately I don't have a picture of that. I bought two cat shaped bowls and painted them and put some glitter on them for the marshmallows. We had a great time - now I need to start planning for birthday number three!

Butterfly Party - 2 years

We chose to have a butterfly party for our daughter because that was the theme of her bedroom at the time, and this made decorating much easier.

I made small bags of coloured pop-corn, pinched and tied in the middle with a pipe-cleaner to form the body and antennae of a butterfly. These were suspended from a tree and looked like a swarm of butterflies hovering over the garden. Each child got a packet to take home.

We ended off with a simple yet very effective looking butterfly birthday cake, made from a double layered, round sponge cake and decorated with bright sweets and icing.

BUBBLE PARTY - 2 years

My daughter celebrated her second birthday in the heat of summer. At that time her favourite past-time was blowing bubbles, so it was a no-brainer: we had a Bubble Party!

Each child received a party pack wrapped in bubble wrap. Popped-rice-marshmallow snacks and bubble-shaped marshmallows were scattered over the party table. Each child received a necklace of threaded Jelly Tots with their party pack. Other sweets appropriate for the theme were Fizzers and Fizz Pop Lolly Pops. I avoided bubble-gum because most of the kids were so small at the time.

The birthday cake was tricky. In the end, being pretty inexperienced, I arranged a collection of various sized round cakes and cupcakes on a board to resemble a cluster of bubbles. The birthday girl approved!
